Things to Know

Keep in the mind the fact that during the Lunar New Year period (usually in late January or early February), the airports and train stations are very crowded with people traveling to visit their families.
Look for little Chinese details, including vases and similarly decorative objects, woodcarvings (especially in the Lai Heen dining room), wallpaper depicting Chinese landscapes and the lovely piece of imperial embroidery on the wall in the Pearl Lobby.

The Rooms

Ivory walls with crown molding provide the base for a timeless color palette of gold, rust, muted green and light blue that varies from room to room.
The bed sits high against a wooden headboard, with crisp white linens, striped bolster, and coverlet with Chinese-style embroidery.
Swag drapery with tassel trim frames large windows (nearly floor-to-ceiling), offering either city or river views, while the TV sits on a marble-topped wood chest that hides the minibar and glassware.
All rooms in the Guangzhou hotel have a walk-in closet and a spacious marble bathroom with a double sink, separate shower and deep tub.
