Even though it only opened in January 2018, Kimpton La Peer Hotel is already a who’s who favorite. A central location, sleek and inviting interior design and a carefully curated art collection by renowned designer Gulla Jónsdóttir are just a few of the highlights drawing the well-heeled to this West Hollywood hot spot. Or perhaps locals and guests alike are flocking to it for the modern Italian-meets-Moroccan restaurant by heralded Los Angeles chef Casey Lane.

Whatever it is, Kimpton La Peer Hotel is here to stay. Service is relaxed, yet attentive — a style that general manager Nick Rimedio calls “unbuttoned luxury.” You’ll be called by your first name, but requests are met promptly, be it arranging a personal shopper from nearby James Perse to visit your room or having a bath drawn à la minute.

Featuring 105 guest rooms and suites, this stylish stay — tucked between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood — is boutique, though the public lounge spaces, from the outdoor bar and pool to the stunning lobby and private rooftop terrace, offer a spacious feel.

The large lobby is a sophisticated, convivial meeting spot, whether catching up with friends, on a first date or powering through back-to-back business appointments.
Although L.A. has fine weather nearly every day, alfresco bars are few — that’s what makes Kimpton La Peer’s courtyard so unique. While the actual bar is covered, the lounge area is outdoors and accented with a fetching installation by artists Retna and Guerin Swing.
The boutique hotel’s restaurant — by Casey Lane, one of L.A.’s most ambitious young chefs — is not only pleasing to the eye with art deco design and fanciful china, but also a treat for the palate. Viale dei Romani’s menu is a creative mash-up of Italian-, Moroccan- and French-inspired dishes.
A six-minute walk to the MOCA Pacific Design Center and even closer to celebrity-laden restaurants (such as Craig’s and Gracias Madre), galleries and couture retail, Kimpton La Peer Hotel’s in-the-heart-of-the-action location is one of its finest amenities.
For an Instagram-worthy wedding or party, the 4,000-square-foot rooftop event space is sure to impress, especially with its 360-degree cityscape view.

Things to Know

Although there’s no onsite spa, the West Hollywood hotel will arrange a treatment and transport you to nearby Ole Henriksen, one of the city’s most beloved spas among celebrities. With at least 24 hours’ notice, Ole Henriksen treatments in your room can be planned as well.
Don’t worry about being the one who ate the last Pringle; housekeeping will bring you as many as you like — the mini-bar is all-you-can-snack.
Need a ride? Skip Uber and request a chauffeured trip, within a one-mile radius, in Kimpton La Peer’s black Tesla Model 3.
Bottle service, complete with a cocktail kit, is available for your room. Order the Manhattan kit and a bottle of top-shelf whiskey, bitters, sweet vermouth and cherries will arrive along with a staff member to make the first round in the comfort of your room.
For the best views of the iconic Hollywood Hills, request a northern-facing room on the fourth floor.

The Rooms

The neutral-colored room décor is anything but blasé. Bathrooms feel like a Swiss spa with tones of ecru and eggshell while the sleeping quarters are appointed in several shades of gray, accented with geometric-shaped light fixtures and even a Jeff Koons-esque golden Balloon Dog.
If you’re traveling with your family and staff, such as a nanny, request the three-room suite that can be private from the main hallway. Two rooms are standard size and the third is a one-bedroom suite.
If privacy is a priority, opt for the standard room instead of the Juliet Balcony room. In the latter, a section of the bathroom wall closest to the bed is translucent and there’s an expansive freestanding soaking tub.
If you’ve booked accommodations with a bathtub (roughly one-third of the rooms have them) a curated soak is a must. Look for the menu hanging from the tub faucet featuring three different options: Oil and Salts; Jasmine; and Bubble Time.
Featuring designer Gulla Jonsdottir’s own furniture collection and neon art on black and gray walls, the penthouse is worth the splurge. The best feature is the large terrace that overlooks the Hollywood Hills, complete with a fire pit lounge area for private cocktail hours or romantic dinners.

The Restaurant

From the creator of the popular Tasting Kitchen restaurant in Venice, Casey Lane’s Viale dei Romani is a new concept for the chef. The menu features Calabrese Italian, classic French and Middle Eastern dishes made with in-season, local produce.
Viale dei Romani means “avenue of the Romans” and is a nod to ancient Rome’s cuisine that was influenced by Greek and Eastern flavors.
Signature items include ceccina, a chickpea crepe served with avocado or tuna; bucatini all’amatriciana, a spicy red-sauce spaghetti with Italian salt-cured pork jowl; and any of the fish dishes, such as the vermouth and butter-braised sole or branzino in lemon sauce.
The wine list features mostly vintages from Italy’s Piedmont region, but expect a few surprises, like the lambrusco rosé and Loire Valley sancerre. The cocktail menu is mostly dedicated to classics, such as the Old Fashioned and Negroni.
