Celebrity Edge pioneered modern-day cruising. The first of Celebrity's Edge ships made its splashy debut in December 2018, but its innovative design still makes it feel brand new in its bold defiance of the standard cruise ship model. The two now-signature features of the Celebrity Cruise brand — the Magic Carpet, the cantilevered venue that moves up and down the vessel’s exterior, and the infinite verandas, whose design transforms staterooms into indoor-outdoor spaces with openable windows — began with this ground-breaking ship.
With a capacity for 2,918 passengers, the 1,467 staterooms provide an extensive range of unique configurations across room categories — the most comprehensive array of options across the Celebrity fleet — to maximize the appeal of cruising and make Celebrity Edge more akin to a floating hotel.
Celebrity Edge also introduced The Retreat, a hotel-within-a-hotel with three exclusive experiences: The Retreat Sundeck, a stylish spot to soak up the rays that includes a pool and hot tub; The Retreat Lounge, a private place to sip drinks and nosh on bites with dedicated concierge service; and Luminae at The Retreat, a private restaurant whose menu includes dishes from French master chef Daniel Boulud.
